It would be an exercise of sincerity and of helping to recognize own errors. No one is perfect, but few of them recognize their errors, which is the first thing to do for intenting to be more perfect in the future.
I think everyone can be wrong - and it is good to admit error (correct it).
But a teacher can not be wrong "many times".

I think it is a positive step from teachers to correct their mistakes because this will keep them trusted by students. This behavior could also inspire students to follow and not ignore their mistakes and consequently repeat it.

I think that recognizing the virtue of mistake, especially from a professor because he is considered a role model and an example followed by the student.
I always do mistakes in my course and say sorry this is a mistake and correct it, I don't find any embarrassment in that.
Publishing your errata first each lecture sounds like a good way to ensure continued attendance! Exam questions can probe the veracity of the original presentation and the corrected version.
In my experience, the best "errata" come from smart students trying to get a full understanding of the material and asking probing questions. In practice, the "errata" are melded into the next course or edition of the E-textbook "as if we got it right the first time". Thank goodness for my smart students! If you are reading, Thanks!
If teacher admits his mistake, in my opinion, this reinforces confidence. This act would be an exercise of sincerity and much helping to recognize own mistakes.
I expect a 'good' teacher to admit errors he made. It is only too human to make mistakes. An 'errata intro' at the start of the next lecture seems to be a great idea.
Anyway: a good teacher with more than 2 years in some field should have the written materials (whether print or ebook) next to flawless.
I think it's a good thing for a teacher to admit mistakes to students in the class because if left uncorrected, these can lead to students being misled that can have very negative consequences for both the institution and student after graduation and being employed.

I think that if we view knowledge as constructed or construed, it is rarely if ever perfect; and this is equally the case in teachers as students. However, we would hope that the level of the teacher's mistakes are 'above' the children, but of course a teacher may mistype a word, which is merely a 'typo'.
For a teacher to acknowledge their errors is simply being honest, since students usually know a mistake has happened - and so many problems in society would not have become so if the persons involved had admitted their mistakes early on.
