Through this discussion, I am encouraging anyone and everyone to offer a thoughtful comment as to ways that the world can be one of less war, less financial control by centralized forces and less attempts at concentration of power by offering a means to add to what we can each, individually and collectively when appropriate, to increase the global energy and consciousness of Hope, Mutual Respect, Love for our brothers, sisters, elders and youth, and an encouraging energy for discovery of relative as well as absolute truth (if it exists).
It is my thesis - that intentionality of consciousness is able to impact the world and that collectively adding to a shared consciousness that supersedes government control allows for more freedoms, liberties, and movement towards an ever-shifting end result that is positive in direction, trend and momentum.
May 2020 be your year of fulfilled dreams, research, purpose and discovery in whatever your mind, heart and soul leads you to and may you share it with the world in ways that create , innovate, appreciate and resonate!
My contribution to this is to seek less judgement, more understanding, and to try to give it all away ... and to wake up each day asking, " What would you do with one more day?" and then be intentional in the moment and for the day, and repeat each day until I don't wake up.
We could increase awareness by study the negative effects and spread it to increase awareness
I believe that studying and increasing awareness are good. But rather than study "in the aggregate", we should study from the most marginalized and impact there. A lot of "studies" are from an elitist class that looks at humanity in the "aggregate" as if the most marginalized doesn't matter. This is a fault of academia in my opinion. It marginalizes the people on the margin , like a can of tuna. This is perhaps my biggest concern of elitist academia- and I believe that policy and society could improve if we focus on the marginalized, not marginalize them.
I agree studying the marginalized is paramount if we are going to affect society. However, we must give voice to the issues. When policy is formulated, the elite must consider the marginalized experience. Welcoming the marginalized voice to occupy seats at the policy table gives credence to the work. The adage of teaching a man to fish rather than giving him fish is more relevant than ever if society is committed to the attainment of the American Dream for ALL.
One question: who determines what the issues are? With a fake news industry, bought and paid for by certain groups with motives, power and control, it is risky to follow the herd, as thevherd has been programmed.
Great insight concerning the programmatic effects and determination of issues. If academia is to rise to becoming the pulse of the nation, we must lead from the heart. However, what the heart reveals, the mind must establish policy that is truly for the people. Leadership is difficult when steeped in personal gains. Without a servant's heart, leadership becomes dangerous and the most marginalized people experience the worst outcomes in all institutions of American fabric. So, I ask are the elites engaged in the REAL work?
