What are the correct terminologies in hydrology for flow speed and longitudinal dispersion coefficient of a river?

I used "flow speed" and "longitudinal dispersion coefficient" to describe the parameters in a one-dimensional river pollutant dispersion model. It seems that they are not the correct terminologies...
