After updating operating software from Linux Mint 19.2 to 19.3 the keyboard is not working in the lockscreen for me to type the password. What to do?

I tried to edit ro quiet splash vr handoff to rw init=/bin/bash. And used passwd -u to unlock. Even then I could not open the lockscreen.
