Is there a substance (eg, thermoplastic) that when heated will be miscible with an aqueous solution, but when cooled will harden and repel water?

I'm trying to create a radioactive solid sphere, but the radioisotope is in aqueous solution. Once it's solid, I want to put the radioactive sphere in room temperature water without it dissolving....
