Can anyone explain the "'step's and Load" part of Lateral dynamic load analysis of monopile foundation in ABAQUS ?

Suppose, I am having a soil-pile system. I want to apply a lateral load (Sinusoidal) on to the pile top and simulate the model. Kindly anyone explain the 'steps and load' part in abaqus.
