Is it possible to measure Silage pH using a pH meter? Our advisor told us that we can add some silage to distilled water and then take the pH ?

If anybody knows another method using pH meter to measure pH of silage bale that would be great. If you can cite any extension website or peer-reviewed article that will help a lot.
