I am looking for softwares or applications for segmentation of white matter hyperintensities in various patholgies and for comparison of the lesions.

What test do we use to compare signal intensity of a lesion on MRI sequences in multiple previous published studies?

For example if the lesion shows hypo or hyper or normal signal intensity in different MRI sequences in all the previously reported studies. How do i compare such a data for a meaningful comparison.
