Does anyone know how I can distinguish residential and urban areas from rocky areas in land use classification?

Because of the spectral likeness of rocky and urban areas, I could not distinguish this two areas on my TM4 image, I used supervised classification on Erdas Imagine 9.1, but it did not work...
