How weighted sum method converts multi objective problem in to single objective?

my all three objectives are in different scale(units). ie (cost,voltage, mw). then how it it will be min sum of( 𝑤𝑖𝑓𝑖(𝑥)) 𝑠.𝑡. 𝑥 ∈ 𝑆 where i=1,2,3 also suggest some multi objective optimization...
