Does somebody knows about research works on detection of phytopathogens in tissue, using the method of fatty acid methyl esters (FAME)?

I want to try some samples that could be infected by Phytophthora, and a way of processing the tissue samples. Also I Would like to know if the results could be representative to give a diagnosis....
