Why do we use 1d nanomaterials when we coat with nanomaterials?

Guys, Is there any reason or merit of using 1d materials? Instead of 0d or 2d or even 3d. In most research some guys used AgNW, CNT, AuNW usually not rGO flake. Thank you for your kindness.
