Is BSFTA+TMCS derivatization really useful for identification of flavonoids by GC-MS as compared to LC-MS?

I am interested to identify unknown flavonoids from plant extract. Does derivatization by trimethylsilylation followed by GC-MS analysis really help for this purpose?
