How can I know if it's microalgae, bacteria or fungi that attach on my plastic surface apart from using DNA sequencing technique?

If I have a piece of plastic from the ocean and I want to identify the microorganism roughly into a big group by microscope, how can I know if they are microalgae, bacteria or fungi?
