What is the highest safe daily/weekly dose of D3, also most practical preparation & delivery methods of D3 to employ in studies on young mice/rats?

I'm looking at the effect of high dose D3 in young age in prevention of some disease in adulthood, but have little experience of working with mice/ rat, hence needing advice from the exerts here...
