Are there any experiences in modelling lumbar spine out of CT-data with 3D-Slicer and using the output for further FEA in Abaqus?

I would like to know if 3D Slicer can create 3D volumetric object from CT scan files? I need to have a 3D object to do finite element analysis in Abaqus Thank you for your help in advance!
