How to effectively concentrate proteins on a sample for Western-Blotting?

One of my students is employing a protocol based on acetone + 20 mM trichloroacetic acid (4 times the sample volume) followed by 12000 rpm 4oC/15 min centrifugation, but there is no recovery....
