In alkaline comet assay is it possible to use normal melting agarose diluted with milli-Q water, or you have to dilute it with TBE?

Our slides coated with NMA with TBE always get cloudy after drying. We are using alkaline comet assay to evaluate sperm DNA fragmentation.
