Can you suggest any method to get pure cultures from Verticillium dahliae microsclerotial colonies contaminated with Fusarium sp.?

I try to isolate Verticillium dahliae from soil samples applying wet sieving method. I tried several selective media, but some Fusarium sp. always overgrows the developing microsclerotial colonies.

Which is the best method for inoculating young cherry and apricot trees by Verticillium dahliae?

I'm looking for a cost-effective and relatively fast method. I have read in many papers that stem puncture method is a good one. Is it suitable in the case of stone fruit species as well?
