How can cationic surfactants be helpful in removal of oil from mixture of iron fines, oil and water?

I saw cationic surfactants like DTAB, TTAB, and CTAB. Which surfactant should I choose was a problem. The one with low cmc or one with high cmc would help in separation of oil and water?
