What factors are involved when determining the ratio of new (potable) water to treated greywater for reuse within a greywater reuse system?

In particular, does anyone know of studies that have looked at the optimal ratio of new:reuse water for applications like semi-recirculating shower, reuse of laundry water, etc.?
