Can a shallow acceptor capture conduction electrons by multiphonon emission with optical phonons in semiconductors?

I am working with a deep level impurities can capture free carriers by multiphonon emission of optical phonons or by emitting a photon. I don't see why a shallow acceptor can't do the same thing....
