How do I go about designing a biosensor to detect intraabdominal structures such as stomach, colon, costal margin, and liver?

Need to have a functional prototype by first of August which accomplishes the above. Shall I start with a book such as, " Practical Electronics for Inventors," by Shertz and Monk, 3rd Ed.?
