I am trying to observe a beat note between two lasers but when I combine two lasers and try see one I see a really wide plateau?

The reason I suspect that the beat note should not be broad linewidth (~100 MHz), as I see in the spectrum analyzer, is because, using those same lasers, we can create a magneto-optical trap....
