Why there is spontaneous miscarriage in BALB/c mice during development of VPA induced autism model?

I am developing valproic acid induced mouse model of autism for which I'm using the well-established pre-natal model where I give 600mg/kg bw dose of valproic acid to 12 day pregnant BALB/c mouse....
