I have tree species and metrics recorded for a city via random sampling (2% city area) and by convenience sampling (15%). Can I statistically compare?

An initial look at my two datasets, one collected randomly and one via stratified convenience sampling, indicates the tree species and abundance data are fairly similar.  I want to compare them...
