Absorption spectra of VLP: Why is there such a big difference in the absorbance peaks in native and denatured forms of proteins?

I have prepared different samples of VLPs (virus-like particles) of Potato virus Y. One sample contained native VLPs and in the other samples I fused coat protein of virus with different proteins....
