After cold compaction of stainless steel 316L ,the specimen after sintering the specimen turns into an undesired carbon material with no properties?

The specimen after cold compaction when put up for sintering at 1100c for 3 hrs turns into a carbon undesired material with no metallic properties.Need to know why is it coming out in this manner
