Is it possible to make a notch filter using coupling of surface waves/evanescent field of a particular mode of a photonic structure ?

Coupling is very selective to the mode. Different modes corresponding to different frequencies/wavelength can be coupled and filtered. May SPR phenomenon be useful to get very narrow band filters....
