I can think of the classic "University Grammar of English" by Quirk and Greenbaum. I also suggest the Co-Build Grammar, which is corpus-based, relying on genuine English as used by real people.

Compositional aspect is a terra incognita in Albanian linguistics (however, there is one publication by a colleague of yours in Pristina) and crying out to be investigated. Compositional aspect itself has been described predominantly on English language data.

Thank you for your message. I fully agree with you that there are many untrodden paths in the Albanian linguistics due to the bitter history of the Albanian people living in Albania as well as in Kosovo.

As you must be aware, much of the research on Albanian was done in different periods by foreign linguists interested in Albanian as an Indo-European language such as Bopp, Meyer, Pedersen, Yokl, La Piana, Lambertz, Mann, to mention just a few. Their contribution to Albanian linguistics is indisputable since they not only researched in the field of Albanian, but with their studies they made this language, long neglected not due to lack of interest, but due to lack of written documents, known to the European and Anglo-American linguistic circles. At that time, Albanians were completely cut off the mainstream linguistics since they had to deal with much more down-to-earth tasks such as literacy courses, foundation of schools, compilation of textbooks and similar related issues.

Only the second half of the twentieth century brought considerable developments in linguistic studies in Albanian speaking area by the publication of works of Cabej, Demiraj, Kastrati, Thomaj, Ismajli, and many others. Department of English at the University of Prishtina was constantly acting as the vanguard in bringing contemporary linguistic theories such as structural, generative, corpus linguistics, pragmatics... to the attention of linguistic circles in Kosovo and wider, although our ideas were not always readily accepted.

Therefore, I am certainly very much interested in compositional aspect of Albanian. I would appreciate if you either send me the study, or the author's details.
