It depends on the methodology that your research is using. Qualitative methodology in a cross-cultural setting would be tricky because in a Confucian heritage culture where, many cases truth or reality is relative to such variables, including age, gender, social status, etcetera. The halo effect is more effective in cultures where particularity whereby different treatment is accorded to particular individuals as opposed to universality, which is the opposite.
