Is it possible to quantitify the magnitude of human emotions? Like anger, hate, love, affection, sorrow, greedness etc. Would it be possible in near future to prepare a table having a column with names of several persons and rest of a few columns showing the numerical values of human emotions possessed by individuals?
I think your question is an interesting** one in that any attempt to answer it, is extremely complex and difficult. For a start, you need to identify the range of emotions and the stimuli that evokes those emotions. Do you know how many emotions are there? There is no agreement on that...There are emotions that are not visible or are not detectable. Rage when controlled or suppressed may be difficult to detect or ascertain. Perhaps, you might have to rely on ECG to detect like heart rate / sinus arrythmia / the PQRST complex, blood pressure – systolic/diastolic, EEG measures, EMG, EOG, Skin Conductance; physical manifestations like flushing, change in voice, its volume (loudness), tone ( amplitude, frequency).
Emotional reaction of one kind or another, can be induced by presenting stimuli of various kinds – auditory, visual, etc. I would think you would need to conduct controlled experiments; a questionnaire may be a poor substitute for experimentation .Emotional reaction should be measured almost instantly and the use of questionnaire may not be very useful as an elicited response could have been mentally processed and there is latency. The answer to your question: I think it is incredibly difficult and will require the effort of many researchers…

I agree with Phil and am looking at facial recognition technology as well as AiCure technology for medical safety. This can be interesting to study the human emotion as well when taking medication etc. I find this topic useful for retails shopping as well which is another area of my research interest.
Work closely with the tech people to support your research & add value to the questionnaire will be interesting.

It's an open area for research.
@ Dr Phil it needs a very wide network of collaboration. I agree that questioning may not lead us too far. But to initiate and having some initials too startup this may be a milestone.
