We maintain a weather station in our faculty and we have a problem of maintaining the wooden frame which we kept Open Pan Evaporimeter. Wooden structure (which helps in air circulation) is damaged by the termites. Even though we applied chemicals, they damage it after sometimes. Can we keep the wooden frame over a concrete base (concrete is only where the wooden frame touch to the ground) ? . Would it affect for the readings ?
I think, frame made-up with aluminium box bar ( or same metal of used for evaporometer ) may be a suitable alternative. We also have this problem. Concrete base will create errors during the night time as it emits the thermal radiations which can increase the temperature of the water in evaporometer. .
