Since IoT depends on the infrasturucture that is affected by cybercrime, it will definitely inheret this nature. However, more sophasticated and complex mechanisms are needed here due to the big data generated by IoT applications. Therefore, there is a need for reformulating the solution concepts for IoT as well.

Think besides IoT endpoints, other attacks are possible including any non-secured hardware, firmware, software, processes etc. as well as social engineering. Personally I think ICT security is an interesting job & it is the last job to expire among many ICT jobs. Reason being whatever new technologies or protection methods etc. still offer room for continuous security avoidance & protection.

Hacking for income (as opposed to state hacking, which can also be for income) can be viewed as a business. Therefore the question to ask if will the hackers earn more from hacking the IoT or from existing hacking activity.
