What are the physical limitations for producing a large-area ternary compound single crystal from bulk single crystal growth method?

For those materials that contain only one or two elements, such as silicon, or Gallium Arsenide, the wafer can reach 12-inches and 6-inches. However, for materials such as LaAlO3, the wafer can only reach 2~3 inches diameter.
