Hi, hoping someone can help me. I am running a multiple regression. The DV is a score on a questionnaire. The IVs are age, gender, ethnicity and time at school. I have used dummy coding for gender (0=female, 1=male). Gender does not appear in the coefficients table in the SPSS output and I can't figure out why. What am I doing wrong?
Let me ask the simple question first, Emma. Did you specify the model correctly when you entered the independent variables into SPSS? Was there any error message on the run related to the gender variable?
Emma, try to use 1 and 2 instead of 0 and 1 or use qualitative variables male/female
Try using a cross tabulation on gender and ethnicity or gender and time at school. Make sure that you dont have too much missing data.
