When conducting ORR on carbon supported nanoparticles I sometime get a weird profile where there is a a rather negative onset potential and a gradual increase from negative current to 0 mA. Is this because there is not enough nanoparticles on the carbon or that the nanoparticles are not clean enough? I am however getting good hydrogen adsorption/desorption peaks.
the reduction peak in the cv isnot ORR but it platinum oxide reduction back to platinum.Have you done ORR without rotation.
I have not done the ORR without rotations. So are you saying that in the LSV in the second plot that this is not the ORR reaction but the reduction of Pt oxide? How do I eliminate this? I do an acid wash as part of the catalysis prep. I should mention that the nanoparticles are a PtNi alloy.
you can find it by doing ORR with and without rotation. Second thing is that under rotation ORR won't show peak but it will flatten after reaching maxium.
