The glycerol by-product of trans-esterification , will always be undetected , as we use excess alcohol for trans-esterification . then how can we see the glycerol as a separate layer ? And since, most oils/fats used have a large molecular weight , in terms of weight of oils use , only insignificant amounts of glycerol will be produced , which dissolves in the excess ethanol . Has anyone confirmed this theory ? Please post photos of your glycerol layer if you have a separate one from your syntheses
