hi all, when I teach and read many pharmacology books, I recognise that details of antiheleminthic and antiprotozoal drugs is not well explained like cardiovascular, cancer or CNS drugs. Why is that?
The answer is very simple. The drugs are very limited. Very few drugs emerge when compared to the cardiovascular or antitumour drugs. Protozoal and helminthic infestations are the problems of developing countries where as the others well explained are the problems of developed countries. So the market for such drug is huge and the profit is also less. Most of the texts from europe and US devote much more space for the drugs that are more frequently marketed there.
On contrary, if you refer the veterinary pharmacology books, you will get much more details, since it is a problem in developed and developing counties alike and many have zoonotic potentials. Hope the reason is clear now
