If you are talking in terms of evolution there probably isn't a reason. But if you can allow for a designer, then it's the craft of the designer that gives you these differences.
If evolution is a collection of random processes that add beneficial mutations, over millions of years, with no designer to direct the process, then there really cannot be a reason for the modifications that occur. Macro evolution (pond slime to man, i.e increase in information) cannot be supported by any evidence.
Micro evolution (adaptation to different environments, ie reduction in information) can be but the evidence can also point to a designer. How the evidence is interpreted is subject to whatever bias we bring to the table.
I'm no expert in this field, I just saw the question was unanswered for 4 days and offered a biased opinion to try to draw others to answer from their bias. Hope you didn't mind.
in the phylogeny of orchids family we can see very big différence in basal part of tree. The way of adaptation is complex, and the évolution too...
The difference between the orchid's subfamily is see in a reproduction systems. And also in the anther ecology, pollynom syndrom or dispersion of pollen units.
