I seek advice from computer hardware/software specialists how to change atomic operations (a+b,a*b,a-b,a/b) to other ones on a hardware or core software/bios/OS levels. For example, a+b should be replaced with (a+b)/(1+ab/c2) or anything else. How technically it can be achieved and what manufacturer can do it? Prof Sergei Eremenko.
The attached file is a summary of my experience of implementing formulae of the above type. My first successful attempts were in the late 1980s and early 1990s and involved programming in Basic and Pascal. When my colleagues switched to C++ and the like, I gave up and moved to spread-sheet modelling. I have since accumulated a major library of such models including my amazingly productive model 1 which I will introduce on RG soon.
Hi David, i seek answers on how PC processors/OS can be modified to implement new operations, and it is not much to do with c++ programming you are referring to.
These operations are defined from the software, in terms of hardware processes that don't have anything to do with what they'e called in software. In C++ such changes are called operator overloading, that's all. It is of course possible to redefine them in assembly and so on.
There isn't any particular hardware operation that's called addition, or a or b. It's the software that performs the associations.
