The numerous disadvantages of conventional wood drying procedures caused the development of a new, mechanical, solid-liquid separation process as the preliminary stage to a thermal drying process called the I/D-process.
The I/D-process deals with a procedure for the dehumidifying, or drying process, of wood. Humid wood is cyclically exposed to high air pressure and then loses easily shiftable water. I did some investigations some years ago and wonder now if this process is well-known and if there are practical applications worldwide.
