Stearic acid seems to be a very commonly used control agent in ball milling, but I found there are many different types (different purity grade), and the prices are totally different. I'm wondering which type is normally used, analytical grade, reagent grade, or others?

There are different process control agents PCA used in powder milling. For example, milling a mixture of Al-TiO2 powders in presence of different compounds as PVA, Al-tri-sec butylate, isobutyl alcohol, AlCl3, and stearic acid as process control agents PCA in preparation of an ultra-fine TiAl/ Al2O3 composite. The mean crystallite size of the milled powders in the presence of PCAs becomes smaller than that of the sample milled without PCA addition. In addition, samples milled in presence of PCA, the reductive reaction, which normally took place after the melting of Al particles, occurred at a relatively higher temperature compared with that in case of no PCAs presence. as detailed in the following reference;

Stearic acid in the form of powder may work best due to its specific properties.
Dear Omkar Singh Kushwaha and Mahmood H. , thanks so much for your answers. I'm not gonna study the influence of different control agents on the final product after ball milling, I may try stearic acid, which seems to be most commonly used. Still, the powder stearic acid has many different grades (see attached file), I'm wondering if there are any preferences for the grade besides contamination issues.
Also, is the stearic acid normally removed by using organic solvents (ethanol, say?) after ball milling if needed?
