Otherwise, thank you to make me discovering this very interesting post. It seems you try to address a very complex question. The great variability of conditions of life of animals (domesticated or not) and the great variability of cortisol levels introduces de facto a big background noise. In this frame, the opposition domesticated/wild seems to be not an easy concept to use, in particular because domesticated animals has been selectionned to be better adapted to farming conditions. Maybe the question can be more simple for zoo animals, but the results could strongly depend on if the tested animals have been caught in the wild or bred in captivity. Moreover, stress is often induced by environment modifications. And climate changes are currently generating a lot of stressful situations in the wild... Good luck.
