There is no best software. It depends on the nature of your data and the analysis you need. For example, for making graphics R and Mintab software are better than the others you mentioned in the list. Many people mention the best software is the one they know very well.

as always: it depends... There is definitely not "the best software". There may be a best software for a certain job. It depends on your data and your approach. You will get different recommendations depending on who you ask.

Personally, I use Matlab for data preprocessing (analysis on individual level). R would do the job as well, however, I’d rather bite my finger tips off than using R instead of Matlab – just my personal usability preference. For statistical analysis (analysis on group level) I use SPSS or R (for everything that SPSS cannot handle). For plots and reports I switch to Excel. If you are interested in machine learning stuff and neuronal networks, Matlab is a good starting point and has loads of good learning resources.

Again, that is my personal workflow. You may need to provide more information on your data analysis approach to get better recommendations.

If you are doing social research, like social psychology, SPSS is convenient and enough! If your statistical process is complicated, like some research in Econ or Finance, I think R fits you better because it's open source and not hard to command. But, I should emphasize that, any statistical software can be very helpful, as long as you can master it! Good luck~

Good Day. I'm a Ph.D. student at Fielding Graduate University. My professors use and, as students, we are provided licenses to, SPSS (https://www.ibm.com/products/spss-statistics) as recommended by the other answerer. It's an IBM product. On Research Gate a researcher asked for alternatives and another member suggested JASP as a free alternative to SPSS that also includes Bayesian methods. https://jasp-stats.org/

MicrOsiris is complete enough, good for large datasets as well, and is free.

I agree with Garedew, there is no best software. It depends on your skill and the ability and type of work you want to analyze. Although programming software such as SAS and R have more functionality due to the possibility of coding.

In my opinion, the best software in the world is the the one you know how to use. All the different products you mention are quite powerful and good picks. And if you are on a budget, MS Excel will go a long way too.

Which statistical analysis software is the best?

Each statistical analysis software has its own strengths & weaknesses and perception of strengths / weaknesses also is subjective from user to user. Hence, instead of looking for the best software, perhaps you can start using the software that you can access to e.g. commonly use software in your university / research community, availability of training or documentation, freeware or OpenSource if cost is a concern etc.

However, also be noted different statistical analysis software are developed to cater for different statistical analysis techniques e.g.

Minitab

R and pyton

SPSS

I recommend SPSS and SAS. Both r equally good. It depends on data and objective.

Depending on your level of competence. Most people find Eviews and Gretl quite easy to handle. Stata and SPSS are a bit more technical. R is very good in terms of its vast library and many programs availability that can be applied. But, it is not user friendly and you need to be guided along.

Some software requires a substantial investment before being able to use them (SAS, R, ...) but allow the automation of calculation procedures by programming. Others are more of the "click-button" type. The answer to your question seems to me to be linked to the volume of variables to be processed.

It depends on why you need the software and how you want to use it! R appears highly versatile and more importantly open source! But, It does not make sense to make comparison of softwares without first stating your needs, capabilities and resources! SAS, R, Minitab, Prism, SPSS, XLSTAT, . . . . . . . . STATA, you name it . . . . You better take any one of these softw that you can afford and get the best out of it.

I am completing my Ph.D. dissertation and will conduct a quantitative study. I will use regression analysis. I am a poor doctoral student, so if I can use less expensive software that's not difficult to use, I am glad about that. Your advice?

In my PhD thesis I've used SPSS Statistics and it was very productive. The results were extremely useful, clear and understandable and that is the best way to show what have you wanted to achieve.
