I have done some benchmarking using an open source sample application called Sock Shop. It heavily uses microservices (many cloud applications either there or are moving to use microservices) and is designed to run in a variety of environments from servers to cloud. I like it because it also has built in measurement facilities to look at performance. Link is below.
