Many studies focused on molecular principles of leaf expansion, but few study have pointed out which genes determine the leaf thickness development. Maybe these genes were involved in the cell division of mesophyll. Can anybody give me some clues, or papers?
Thanks Folkard. Yeah, you are right, I really want to know the physiological principles of how the light determine leaf thickness. I agree, leaf thickness is not determined by one or small amount of genes, I just want to select one as starting point to establish the pathway.
I am not sure if the following links are useful to answer the question. However, a number of HDZip regulatory genes are known to regulate a number of leaf development aspects. These just two of many link describing genes that may play important rolesnin leaf development, including thickness, probably.
