In the adsorption process by using adsorbent magnetic-activated carbon for removal of reactive blue 13 dye which contains -N=N- group, SO3 group, OH, Cl, etc. In this process what are the active sites of MAC? is it activated carbon or Fe3O4 makes a bond with reactive dye?
For making one's idea, you can measure the surface area by adsorption before and after doping with magnetic particles. You'll probably see that the area slightly decreased after incorporation of nanoparticles, which suggests that activated carbon is by far the material having the highest surface area, and hence contributing most to adsorption. You can conclude the same if the non-magnetic activated carbon adsorbs less dyes than the magnetic material.
Of course, should you find opposite experimental results, the conclusions should be revised completely.

Activated carbon is potentially capable of adsorbing the dye because of its porous structure. However, when you load it with Fe3O4, it's surface area will presumably be reduced and less dye is adsorbed. But, since the dye you are using has various groups which can bind to Fe metals in Fe3O4, I think some of this dye may be also adsorbed by these magnetic nanoparticles.
Yes, sir adsorption with activated carbon is higher and the adsorption capacity of Fe3O4 particles is very less. So Activated carbon is more potentially capable of adsorbing the dye.
