I am currently seeking to explore the question….
“What should schools teach children to prepare them for ‘the digital world’?”
Whilst it is clear that digital technologies are pervasive and powerful it is not clear how we should seek to develop a school curriculum which equips children to survive and thrive “in a digital world”.
I would be most grateful to hear colleagues views on this issue.

There are a lot of possible answers, but mostly centered on learning technology. In fact, there are a lack of pedagogical proposals, at least with a coherent theorectical support.
In Portugal, we tried to overcome this with a model mainly focused on Learning With Technology.

One of the first lessons should be about ethics - on how to handle the content creation using digital tech tools. In my research experience with remote rural kids, adults sometimes assume kids will know what to do, what to avoid etc. However it is found to be worthwhile to spend time having conversations about Ethics and Etiquette, so they understand how powerful (and potentially dangerous) their access to and input/output using technology.
