I have been through a number of journals and Research Papers. I wanted to get an idea as to what new areas are still left to be researched in "Will Automation lead to unemployment or it will lead to skill enhancement to survive in the labor market ".
Please suggest accordingly so that I can proceed. I am a novice learner and some help would be appreciative.

I think that automation and digitalisation will limit the demand for some professions and increase unemployment. There will be changes in the labor market and skills will have to be improved and new professions mastered.

This is a huge topic you have selected. I think that you need to firmly anchor you thesis on the supply side of economics. For instance, what automation does to the production function. Basically, it lifts it upwards, tending to create more outputs with the same of better inputs. You may want to talk of various kinds of automation--basic research, innovation, high-tech etc.
The old store with the luddites is that innovation displaces labor. Today we tend at non-uniform lifts of the production function upwards where regions and cities are often left behind creating unemployment and poverty. You can disaggregate the unemployment by sectors, race, sex etc. by areas. You can underscore something about discrimination. A good "labor economic text" would be helpful on this.
Once you decide on a topic, you can get into some empirical analysis using time-series, cross-section, or pooling of both data, to make your analysis scientific.

@Indira Roy, you can look at the effect of automation and research and development on unemployment. Automation. Improvements in automation dynamics through research and development can create more opportunities and influence unemployment.
I recommend you to search for the articles by Daron Acemoglu and David Autor from MIT, because almost all of the articles in the field of automation and unemployment have cited the literatures by these two experts.
